Yorke Dance Project presents an evening of pure dance, including new and historical work. Four contrasting works make up this performance that encompasses 1990’s LA to 2009 UK. Featuring the UK premiere of the iconic US dancer and choreographer Bella Lewitzky’s Recuerdo.
Artistic Director Yolande Yorke-Edgell contributes Divisions on a Ground, and premieres her new work, Strandgade 30, inspired by the paintings of Vilhelm Hammershoi. The final element of the programme is a specially commissioned work from Lea Anderson, Artistic Director of the Cholmondeleys and the Featherstonehaughs. This will be an exciting addition to this all female choreographers evening of dance.
With some of the UK’s leading dance artists: Sarah Warsop, Pari Naderi, Greig Cooke, Caroline Hotchkiss, Ben Ash and Caroline Lynn, the performances will be surrounded by an art installation featuring video and still imagery from the rehearsal process, as well as the legendary performances of Lewitzky and her company.
Touring September to December 2009 and Spring 2010.
A must see for all dance and theatre enthusiasts who enjoy watching outstanding dancers at the top of their field in new and exhilarating work. An inspirational evening of pure dance.
