Anton Du Beke
Best known for starring in BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, Anton Du Beke has made ballroom queens of celebrities Lesley Garrett CBE, Esther Rantzen OBE, Patsy Palmer, Jan Ravens, Kate Garraway, Gillian Taylforth, Laila Rouass, Ann Widdecombe and now Nancy Dell ‘Olio on the hit TV series. Witty, charismatic and a natural entertainer, Anton’s skills in front of an audience extend far beyond his exceptional ballroom talents.
TV Shows Anton is now a well known presenter of popular daytime BBC Two series Step up to the Plate and BBC One’s Hole in the Wall. He has also made many guest appearances on the BBC in Celebrity Star Spell, City Hospital, King of the Waltzes, Test The Nation, Celebrity The Weakest Link, Question of Sport Christmas Special, Graham Norton’s Big Finish, Who Wants to be a Millionaire Christmas Celebrity Special, Rob Brydon’s ‘Annually Retentive’, Victoria Wood’s ‘Christmas Special 2009’ and ITV1’s Loose Women and GMTV. In 2007 he competed in the BBC Two series Underdogsand was a featured coach and choreographer for Let Me Entertain You. Anton teamed up with Lesley Garrett once again in 2004, for a gala concert in Leeds, broadcast on BBC Two. In 2006, he choreographed and took part in BBC One’s live Dancing in the Streets.
Dancing beginnings Having danced since he was 14 years old, Anton has collected a number of worldwide and British awards and achievements in Ballroom Dancing. He has also trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz and modern theatre dance.
Anton and Erin In 2006, Anton and Erin choreographed the hit live show Simply Ballroom and made a special guest appearance in a gala performance at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. In 2007 Anton’s Dance Class was published by Kyle Cathie Ltd, a step by step guide to all the Ballroom and Latin dances written and created by Anton and featuring Erin Boag and Flavia Cacace. In early 2009, he and Erin presented an outstandingly successful live show of dance and music; Anton and Erin – Cheek to Cheek which toured the UK and was part of the London Dance Festival at the London Coliseum. In March Anton was head panellist on BBC One’s Let’s Dance for Comic Relief and together with Erin, he filmedBallroom High for Sky1, a two part series featuring them teaching young teenagers to ballroom dance.
On tour In early 2010 they toured a live show; Steppin’ Out with Anton and Erin’ and in January to March 2011 toured over 40 venues with a massively successful show ‘Anton and Erin – Puttin’ on the ritz’. Anton and Erin also toured from January to March 2012 a show called ‘Let’s do it’.
